Bai He (White Crane)

A white bird standing

Contemplates heaven and earth

Then flies to the west

Breathe

There is no sky.
No rain. No sun.
No day or night I see.

There is no rest.
No word. No tear.
No song or prayer I hear.

I live each day.
To know.  To breathe.
The freedom I desire

Summer

The heat, haze, and buzz
Blue sky clouds, distant thunder
Scent of falling rain

Wait for Me

Wait for me she called
And I took her hand in mine
We walked together
Season to season
And then she was away

I see her now
With different hands
That call, and cry, and sing
She calls to them. They wait for me.
Then they fly away

We walk together, twilight nears
She takes my hand in hers
And waits with me
As seasons end
Never more away

Winter

How softly it falls
White upon the wooded hills
Silent, still, and cold.

Biological Blues

Sleepy eyed and weary
Foxy, sly and dreary
Triplicate moondrops outside
Upon my table plopping
Simple sudden smack shots
Reds and yellows popping
Interstellar spaceman
Living in a tin can
Passing through a time uncertain
Living in a room with curtains
Simplified and undetected
The worse for wear and now defected

Mouse and Cat

Hickory tickory tat
Outside with the mouse and the cat
Who went to get high
And then by and by
Upon their fat asses they sat

Hickory tickory tat
The police caught up with the cat
For he'd earned quite a name
While dealing cocaine
And the mouse was really a rat
